Recurrent poliserositis succesfully treated with IL-1 receptor antagonist Anakinra

چکیده
Background Recurrent pericarditis is known to be a clinical feature in numerous inflammatory and infectious diseases. However, in the majority of cases, recurrent pericarditis appears to be idiopathic. The optimal regimen for preventing recurrence is not established; treatment modalities include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), corticosteroids, colchicine and other immunomodulatory agents as well as pericardiectomy. Longterm prognosis of recurrent pericarditis is generally good.

Chronic Autoimmune Meningoencephalitis and Periodic Fever Syndrome Treated with Anakinra
We report the case of a 63-year-old male diagnosed with chronic autoimmune mediated meningoencephalitis and periodic cyclical fever syndrome. After 2 years of failed conventional treatment and recurrent hospitalizations, anakinra treatment (an interleukin-1 [IL-1] receptor antagonist) was trialed which resulted in full recovery. As evidenced by this case, anakinra can be used to treat chronic a...
متن کاملA case of corticosteroid-dependent recurrent pericarditis with different response to two IL-1 blocking agents
Introduction Recurrent pericarditis (RP) has a controversial pathogenesis that crosses infectious, auto-immune and auto-inflammatory pathways. It has been suggested that in some cases it might be an unrecognized auto-inflammatory disease. Recent studies have demonstrated that anakinra, an interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA), represents an effective treatment for the control of corticoste...
متن کاملPeri- and Postoperative Treatment with the Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist Anakinra Is Safe in Patients Undergoing Renal Transplantation: Case Series and Review of the Literature
In patients undergoing solid organ transplantation, the presence of an interleukin-1 (IL-1) driven disease may require the addition of IL-1 inhibiting drugs to the standard immunosuppressive regimen to protect against inflammation and negative graft outcome. Three patients undergoing renal transplantation were treated perioperatively with the interleukin-1 receptor antagonist anakinra. Kidney f...
متن کاملSuccessful use of anakinra to treat refractory Schnitzler's syndrome.
Schnitzler's syndrome is a rather rare disease which may appear in a rheumatologist's office because patients often report rheumatic symptoms with joint, bone and muscle pain. However, it is characterized by chronic urticaria, recurrent fever, liver and spleen enlargement, osteosclerosis, and lymphadenopathy, in conjunction with a serum IgM M component. A patient who had been treated with relat...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effects of an interleukin 1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA) on the development of immune-mediated ocular inflammation in mice. METHODS Recombinant, human, nonglycosylated IL-1RA (anakinra [kineret]) was tested for its inhibitory effects in 2 systems: (1) experimental autoimmune uveitis induced by interphotoreceptor retinoid-binding protein in B10.A mice using routine pr...
